Buying Guide
Key considerations when choosing budget PBT keycaps include material, durability, profile, and compatibility with your keyboard layout.
- Material and durability: Double-shot PBT keycaps resist wear, fading, and shine over time. Look for sets that emphasize thick walls and robust legends.
- Profile and typing feel: Cherry profile is common and comfortable for many users, while OEM or other profiles may suit different preferences for height and travel distance.
- Compatibility: Verify MX stems and the number of keys included to match your keyboard size (60%, 65%, 75%, 100%, or extended layouts). Some sets include extras for non-standard kits.
- Backlighting: Shine-through designs maximize RGB impact, but ensure the legends remain legible in daylight and during gaming sessions.
- Color and style: Choose colors that harmonize with your keyboard case and lighting, whether you prefer a muted retro look or a vivid gradient.
